Blue Devils Set to Face Pisgah

Tommorrow night should be the first real conference challenge for the Brevard Blue Devils, whose only loss have been to State Champs Shelby Lions (from another conference) The Blue Devils rallied late last week for a convincing score but will really have to play four quarters of smash mouth football to beat Pisgah. Brevard doesn't have as much size, but they have speed. Plan to come early to get a good seat! And the band promises to put on another great half time show.

Blue Devils Sprint Past West Hendersonville

It was close for a while. The Brevard Blue Devils lead by just six points with only mintues left on the clock. But they pulled away, and with the help of two late game turnovers, finished strong at 31-9, beating West Hendersonville. This sets up the big rivalry against Pisgah (next home game.) The Blue Devils has just one loss, to last year's state champions Shelby Lions. They are not in our devision and I believe they are a bigger school as well.

So it's looking good for Brevard at this point. Will they make it to the playoffs, and beyond? Check back and see!

Leaf Season Is Upon Us

Just hiked to the top of Looking Glass mountain yesterday (just of Hwy. 276 in the Pisgah National Forest) and we're about a week away from prime leaf season. The color on the trees is starting to turn, especially above 3500 feet of so. If you plan to head up here, make sure to add Pisgah Inn to your list of places to stop. It's a restaurant perched on top of the Blue Ridge Mountains, about 3 mile north of the intersection of Hwy. 276 and the Blue Ridge Parkway. You can eat dinner and look out over a huge colorful spread of the mountains. The view is great, the food is good, and the prices are right. They close down between 4pm and 5pm to set up for dinner so plan accordingly. Also, it's best to get there early or late, since it's a bit crowded this time of year. So a 3pm arrival will get you seated quicker than showing up at noon. Check out their site at http://PisgahInn.com

Brevard Blue Devils Get Bitten By Shelby Lions

How did a 4-0 team that just shut out a bigger rival (Asheville) then lose to a team it beat last year? Well it happened and it wasn't pretty. Hopefully this will be a good character builder for team with state title hopes. The Lions played well the entire game and the Blue Devils missed a few key tackles. Brevard moved the ball but just couldn't get inside the 20 yard mark most of the night.
